An Iberoamerican Baroque commemoration!

Seconda Prat!ca joins the celebrations of Splendor's 10th Birthday with a program brimming with some of the most exquisite gems from the Ibero-american archives and traditions. A true musical celebration of a long-lasting frienship, and the promise of many more years to come! 

Francisco de Peñalosa's work counts among the best preserved amongs the many Spanish Renaissance composers. During his lifetime he was one of the most regarded and well-paid artists of his generation. Seconda Prat!ca presents a program that explores the connections between his music and the political and military entreprises of his two main patrons, the Catholic kings Isabel and Fernando.

With invited director Dr. Rebecca Stewart and the musical direction of Jonatan Alvarado, the program is centered around the composers Missa L’Homme Armé. Together, we have created an imagined service, celebrating the kingly conquest of Naples, combining chant, motets, and sermons of the time.
